Rat Snake Bird?

Rat Snake Bird?

We had an exciting “Locryn Biology Lesson” today! It appears a small black rat snake decided to make it’s home in one of our birdhouses!

Rat snakes are incredibly common in the Southeastern United States. Adult rat snakes typically grow to 3-5 feet in length. They primarily eat mice, rats, squirrels, birds, frogs, lizards and bird eggs. As many of you know, Locryn is our three-year old whom we are teaching to appreciate the natural world around him. Locryn is still learning about the cycle of life, so we kept this section of the discussion simple.

We are excited to have our new resident “rat snake bird” and look forward to him keeping our property pest free!
